Although most of them are are not felt, an average of 20 earthquakes occur in the archipelagic country of the Philippines as it is situated along the Circum-Pacific Belt where 90% of the planet's earthquakes happen along it's path. The destructive and fatal capabilities of this phenomenon aren't new to us anymore due to the fact that we experience it a lot, but what make these events even more dangerous is how they occur suddenly and unnoticeably.

Considering its devastating outcomes and its unpredictability, Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill is conducted multiple times annually by the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council to raise the level of awareness and readiness of the public in case an earthquake occurs. This program seeks to strengthen the mechanism for national and regional coordination, as well as the interoperability of key players. It also aims to intensify the local communities' earthquake preparedness and increase the commitment of local government units in building safe communities.

This specific program by the government is not only crucial but helpful as well due to the fact that it lets us understand the real situation when this type of disaster takes place and teach us on how we act and manage ourselves when we're in such circumstances. We can't foresee an earthquake and we can't prevent it too, that's why, it is essential to take what are being taught to us seriously as our lives may depend on it.
